The Whale Rock is a small island in the chain of Fiabacet Islands, southeast of the island of Misool. The rocky islet has a distinctive whale shape when it is viewed from the south, hence the name. Due to the exposed position of the island, most dives here are drift dives, and it will be enjoyable for divers to drift along the gently sloping reef beautifully encrusted with corals and sponges. This dive site is also popular with snorkelers because with great visibility, which is always at this site, they can see beautiful coral gardens not only at 6m/20ft down where the reef starts, but also down near the sea floor at 20m/66ft deep.
When To Go Diving
It is possible to dive at the Whale Rock dive site all year round. The water temperature is pretty constant throughout the year, ranging from 27C/80F from May to October to 30C/86F in November to April.
