Similan Islands
North Point (also known as Rocky Point) is located northeast of Island 9 in the Similan Islands. It consists of a set of massive granite rocks wrapped in corals, and the corals between them. Around the rocks there are "deserts" of sand, and between themselves some of the rocks formed swim-throughs that became reliable shelters to some sea creatures. No tangible currents were detected in this area, and also due to the quite shallow depth of the site, this site can be recommended for novice divers.
When To Go Diving
This area is governed by the two monsoons, the northeast and the southwest. During the northeast monsoon, the weather is dry, sunny, and mild, with the temperature of the sea water averaging 27C/81F. This monsoon occurs during November through April, and is considered to be the best time with the best conditions for a pleasurable diving experience.
What to see
Sea fans, staghorn corals, hard corals, parrotfish, dog-faced pufferfish, barracuda, lionfish, clown triggerfish, giant sea cucumbers, leopard sharks.
