Mark's Treasure
Mark’s Treasure is named after Dr. Mark Erdmann, regional coordinator of Conservation International’s Bird’s Head Seascape program, a man who loved this site. The site has a steep drop-off with lots of cutbacks and caves. Divers may not get around to exploring the reef wall if they spend too much time looking at the astonishing variety of marine life.
When To Go Diving
It is possible to dive at Mark’s Treasure all year round. The rainy season lasts from July to September. The water temperature is 26-29C/79-83F throughout the year.
What to see
Here divers can see different kinds of jacks, sweetlips, surgeonfish, snapper, wrasses, barracudas, pufferfish, crabs, shrimp, nudibranchs, sharks, stingrays, and turtles.
