When to go to Karavas

High season in North Cyprus starts in early April and finishes in late November. Average ambient temperature in summer is about 30C/86F, but can range from 25-30C/77-86F, and sea temperature in summer is around 27-28C/81-82F.

Scuba diving in Karavas

Karavas is located in northern Cyprus on the Mediterranean coast, 12 km (7.5 mi) west of Kyrenia. It is a small town in the Kyrenia District of North Cyprus. The town was occupied by the Turkish army in 1974 and is now under control of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which calls it Alsancak. The town has a population of about 5000 people. Karavas is a great destination for divers. It boasts a great number of ideal dive sites for all levels, and an abundance of marine life can be found on many reefs. It is home to an astonishing variety of flora and fauna such as corals, sea turtles, octopuses, eels, rays, groupers, amberjacks and dolphins. There are also lots of sites for wreck diving. There are many interesting dive sites in Alsancak, the best being: The Wall, Zephyros, Pinocchio, Paradise, Zenobia, Unknown Wreck, Plane Wreck, Power Station, Fred Harbor and Antique Shop.
