When to go to Ho Chi Min (old Sai Gon)

The best time for diving in Ho Chi Minh is from mid-November to mid-May, with its good weather and clear waters. Because of the tropical climate, this area gets monsoons twice a year. The rainy season usually lasts from mid-November to January and is not ideal for diving because of the poor water visibility. The average temperature of the water is between 21-25C/70-77F with a high visibility up to 25m/82ft. The air temperature is typically around 25-28C/82-92F with fresh sea breezes and a lot of sunshine.

Located in southern Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon), provides opportunities for exciting diving experiences for divers of all levels, who can discover the small islands and underwater world close to them. The beautiful sea landscape is shaped by rock formations, caves, caverns, tunnels, walls, and numerous coral reefs. The corals come in all forms and colors, including the most exclusive types. Red snappers, shrimp, crabs, abalones, oysters, snails, lionfish, sea snakes, rays, eels, and many more marine species can be found in the waters around Ho Chi Minh City. But the most interesting creatures here include green turtles, reef sharks, and dolphins. All the diving destinations are easily accessible from Ho Chi Minh City, including Nha Trang, Hoi An, and Whale Island. Night dives are also highly popular around this area. There are many dive centers that are PADI-certified and qualified to provide the necessary training.
