Scuba diving in Duong Dong

Dương Đông is the main town on Vietnam's largest island of Phú Quốc, located on its west coast. Duong Dang Airport is located here. The area features a diverse underwater scenery including generous coral growth and funky rock formations which provide shelter to a variety of fish. Exploring the local waters divers get a chance to spot bamboo sharks, blue spotted rays, scorpion fish, lots of nudibranchs, barracudas, various crustaceans, cuttle fish, octopus and mantis shrimps. Diving is especially great for novice divers since the surrounding dive sites feature shallow waters with the average depth of about 11m/36ft. The most popular dive sites include Nudibranch Garden, Nail Island and Turtle Island. Turtle Island is considered to be the best site in Phu Quoc. Divers get a chance to see some beautiful hard coral formations with a large colony of colorful anemones, a wide variety of tropical fish and big shoals of fusiliers and damselfish. The maximum depth of the site is 12m/39ft. There are some canyons formed by some big rocks at a depth of 7-10m/22-32ft, which makes the topography of this place very unusual. Visibility typically stays around 10m/22ft.
