When to go to Con Dao

The best time for diving in Con Dao islands usually are between April and September, when there are fewer storms and weaker currents. The rainy season occurs here during the months of July, August and September, but there are no long monsoons around the area. The low season for diving at Côn Đảo is from November to February, because of high winds. The average air temperature is around 26-29C/79-84F, while the water temperature averages are 25C/77F. Green turtle nesting season is from mid-May to late September, while their hatching season is from mid-August to early December. What to see The common marine species in this area include moorish idols, clownfish, lionfish, cuttlefish, and octopi. Pelagics, rays, reef sharks, and green sea turtles can also be spotted close to Con Dao.

Scuba diving in Con Dao

Con Dao are remote islands in the southeast part of Vietnam that offer safe and unspoiled diving for divers of all levels. Con Dao Airport is located here. The coral reefs around the islands have a variety of shapes and colors, divers can expect here to see soft and hard corals, table corals, bubble corals, anemones, and sponges. Various wrecks remain the major attraction of this destination, with the only penetrable wreck in Vietnam, the Thai Freighter. The Thai Freighter is at 65m/213 ft, which is hidden under 30-40m/98-131ft of water and full of exotic fish schools. The underwater landscape is shaped by reefs, caves, walls and rocky bottom. There are more than 20 dive sites around Con Dao, and the most famous ones are Hòn Tre Nhỏ, Hòn Bà, Egg Island, and Lucky Island.
