About Trang Province

Trang is a southern province in Thailand, located along the Andaman Sea coastline. The region charms with its magnificent nature, which is represented by sparkling rivers, multiple waterfalls and lush jungles, covering local mountains and hills. Limestone-covered beaches washed by azure-blue waters complete the whole picture. There are not so many attractions, but tourists may explore numerous caves, Buddhist temples (including Wat Tantayaapiram), botanical gardens and famous Mu Koh Petra National Park. It is easy to get to the region, as there is an airport in it. Trang Province provides excellent opportunities for diving around the area. The Andaman Sea has lots to offer divers: various pinnacles, interesting channels, fascinating caverns with large entrances and rock agglomerations. A big variety of underwater creatures always roam in the shimmering waters around numerous drop-offs, slopes, descents and ledges. Diving in Trang is also presented by the observation of different kinds of soft and hard corals, sea fans and anemones. Usual depth is around 20-30m/65-98ft, but the maximum point may reach up to 60m/196ft. Currents are moderate – 1-2 knots. Dive sites are accessible by boat and advisable for advanced and experiences divers.

Trang Province can be named as a diving oriented region, as there are many dive sites worth scuba-diving in them. The most popular dive sites are Hin Muang (Purple Rock), Hin Daeng, Ko Rok, Yong Hua Wreck8 Mile Rock
Koh Haa area, Stonehenge, Koh Ngai and Ko Hai. All of them can offer an unforgettable diving.  

When to go to Trang Province

Climate is tropical in Trang with two distinct seasons – a dry season, which lasts from January to March, and a wet period, which runs from April to December.

The air temperatures are approximately the same during the whole year and reach 28-30C/82-86F.

Water temperatures are of 27-30C/80-86F.

Usual visibility is up to 20m/65ft. 

 

What to see
Diving in Trang is very interesting as its underwater world is rich and represented by jacks, barracuda, glass fish, lobsters, lion fish, butterfly fish, moray eels,  leopard sharks, and many others.
