Stairs to Medang
The Stairs to Medang is a drift dive site that consists of different coral reef terraces sloping down. It is well-known for its beautiful underwater landscape. The marine life is very diverse due to the difference in elevation in the site. The strong currents give divers opportunities to spot larger species.
When To Go Diving
The best conditions for diving at the Stairs of Medang are from April to November during the dry season, but the site is accessible year-round. The average water temperature is 27-30C/81-86F. The air temperature varies from 26-28C/79-82F.
What to see
It is possible to spot loggerhead or green sea turtles in the most upper plateaus of the Stairs of Medang. There are numerous hiding spots for lobsters, bumphead parrotfish, surgeonfish, and lionfish. Some of the larger species present are manta rays, reef sharks, and barracudas.
