About Los Santos

Los Santos is a province of Panama located on the Azuero Peninsula. Las Tablas, a traditional Spanish town, is the capital of the province. The region fascinates every traveler with its authenticity and unique atmosphere. Bright and gaudy carnivals and festivals often occupy the streets of the whole region, a wonderland for tourists. History buffs have a splendid opportunity to discover unknown facts about the region's heritage in the numerous museums located in the area, such as the Museo Belisario Porras or Casa Museo Manuel F. Zárate. To admire nature in Los Santos, visitors can visit the national parks: Cerro Hoya National Park and Isla Iguana Wildlife Refuge. Colonial architecture lines the streets of the province and dates back to the early years of the Spanish invasions, and also hides lots of secrets. For those who wish to get away from it all, there are miles of idyllic and unspoiled beaches surrounded by clear waters. The underwater world attracts lots of divers, snorkelers, and fishermen. There is an enormous reef, with around 15 types of corals. Divers can dive in the deep warm waters or explore interesting caves and caverns, boulders, outcroppings, clefts, and crevices teeming with diverse schools of fish. The colorful marine life makes for spectacular diving and provides great views for underwater photographers. The usual depth is around 12-18m/39-60ft. Currents are weak, about 1 knot. The dive sites are easily accessible by boat and are suitable for divers of all levels. Most popular dive sites There are two outstanding dive sites at the destination. Lucky divers can take wonderful photos of sharks and big reef fish at the L. Joron dive site, or swim along the reef at Las Morenas.

When to go to Los Santos

Los Santos has a tropical climate with an average air temperature of 25-30C/77-86F, which provides comfortable conditions for visiting the area throughout the year. The rainy season is from May to November. The water temperature is 26-28C/78-82F year-round. The visibility is roughly 5-10m/16-32ft. What to see Divers can encounter numerous species while diving in Los Santos. Tuna, sailfish, wahoos, dorados, whales, turtles, sharks, and even dolphins are frequently spotted in the area. The abundance of sponges, sea fans, and corals are sandwiched between rock formations and densely cover the reef's walls, attracting various creatures.
