About Kepulauan Seribu

Kepulauan Seribu is known as the ‘Thousand Islands’. It is a chain of islands to the north of Jakarta’s coast. It does not have more than 1000 islands; in fact there are about 110 islands. The islands are part of North Jakarta, and can be reached by speedboat from Marina Ancol or by public boat from Angke. The islands offer a variety of different activities and sights for tourists. Some of the islands that are the most developed for tourism are Pulau Bidadari, Pulau Ayer, Sepa, Coconut, Pelangi, Bira, Pantara, Kul-kul, and Pulau Putri. The islands are also famous for their diving opportunities. Divers here can discover a variety of stunning diving sites, especially off the smaller islands where the gorgeous coral reefs are. Generally, every island in the Thousand Islands is surrounded by slopes covered with coral reefs. The islands have already been declared a national marine park, and this area has rich marine life. When to go to Kepulauan Seribu

Scuba diving is available all year round, with the best conditions being from April to October. Kepulauan Seribu has a tropical climate, with a possible rainy season between November and June. The average temperature varies between 24-33C/75-91F. Water temperature averages are between 28-30C/82-98F. Visibility varies between 5-25m/16-82ft. What to see The national park recorded that the Thousand Islands is home to 276 coral species and 232 fish species. The surrounding reefs are home to a wide variety of fish life, including turtles, morays, large cuttlefish, and stingrays.
