About Kefalonia Island

Kefalonia is located exactly in the middle of the Ionian Sea. It is the largest of the Ionian Islands. There is a unique and colorful underwater world in Kefalonia. The most interesting places for diving on the island are the western and northern part of the island. There are resorts with diving centers at Agia Efimia, Kounapetra, Lixouri, Skala, and Fiskardo. All these places have clean water with a rich underwater world. The dive site Papas is very interesting: this place has an interesting seabed structure, because it is dotted with many small, pointed reefs at depths ranging from 10-25m/32-82ft. Here it is possible to see a lot of small driftwood, as well as visit a large cave that is about 10m/32ft long (the cave entrance is located at a depth of 25m/82ft).

When to go to Kefalonia Island

The high diving season runs from the beginning of April until the end of October. The average water temperature is 24C/75F and the air temperature is 29C/84F in the summer.
