Saint-Gilles is a village located along the west coast of the island of Reunion, in the commune of Saint-Paul. The closest airport is Pierrefonds Airport, that is located in 47 km. It is the location of the island's most popular seaside resort. Saint-Gilles offers diving for all levels of experience. There are various types of dive sites such as walls, reef, caves, drift, shipwrecks and deep dives. The best dive sites are the Canyons, the Hermitage Passe and Pierre au Prefet. The depth at these sites is 20-30m/66-98ft and there is a diverse marine life including stingrays, barracudas, moray eels, mola mola, tuna, turtles, groupers, scorpion fish, lionfish, crayfish, triggerfish, leaf fish, lizardfish, batfish, stonefish and clown fish. Hard coral, soft coral, table coral and brain coral can also be found the area.
