Fish Pond Alley is the extension of the Fish Pond dive that is also available for divers of all levels. Taking this dive visitors can experience the beauty and diversity of the local underwater life. The reef features numerous coral formations that are full of various creatures like lobsters, crabs, shrimp, starfish, parrotfish, mackerel, grunts, snappers, stingrays, eels and lionfish. The ocean floor is full of colorful sponges, purple fans and gorgonians, anemones and algae. The currents are usually mild and the deepest point is at around 30ft/10m, which makes it an ideal site for beginners who want to improve their technique and obtain licensing. Many diving centers offer an opportunity to get a PADI certificate.

When To Go Diving

It takes only 15 minutes by boat to get to Fish Pond Alley, a marvelous dive site located near Montego Bay. Diving at this site is available throughout the year. The warmest water and air temperatures usually fall on summer months, making July, August and September the best time to visit this part of Jamaica. Diving here is always pleasant, as the average water temperature stays around 26C/78F-28C/82F. The typical air temperature here is also very similar and varies between 26C/79F and 29C/84F. The water visibility stays between 51ft/16m and 60ft/18m.
