Liveaboard diving in
South Point
Must see
South Point, located on the southeast of Sipadan Island, is a magnificent wall. After descending down to a ledge, at about 20m/65ft, the wall goes deep down into the blue, densely covered with pristine corals. The site is often classified as a drift dive.
When To Go Diving
Best diving conditions are from April to November, though diving can be done all year round. Water temperature stays within 26-30C/78-86F range.
What to see
Divers can spend their time hovering over coral gardens, spotting grey reef and whitetip sharks, different species of rays, banner fish, countless turtles, schools of barracudas, trevallies, bumphead parrotfish and thousands of reef fish. Macro enthusiasts will be pleased to see leaf scorpion fish, anemone shrimp, bubble coral shrimp and porcelain crabs, which can be found here on a regular basis. Deep waters and strong currents bring hundreds of hammerhead and thresher sharks, which are usually only seen at about 40m/131ft depth.
