El Toro island, located off the southwest coast of Mallorca, is a marine reserve and thus is incredibly rich in marine life. There is a variety of dive spots around the island that will be interesting for both novice and experienced divers, because they offer opportunities for interesting reef diving at different depths. A stunning underwater landscape features piles of volcanic rocks of all sizes filled with all kinds of marine life from tiny nudibranchs to big fish species, such as groupers and barracudas.

When To Go Diving

Diving around El Toro Island is possible any time of the year, but during the winter the water temperature drops down to a chilly 18C/64F. The warmest water temperature is usually in August, when it rises to 26C/79F.

What to see

Divers will see some interesting types of nudibranchs, crabs, octopi, moray eels, scorpionfish, cardinalfish, sea bream, groupers, barracudas, and other marine species.
