Pronto
Pronto is a small wreck, which was sunk in 1923. Now it lies upright though somewhat broken because of cruise liners, which visit Madeira and drop anchor on the wreck or nearby. This dive site also is known as Funchal Harbor area. The average depth here is 30m/98ft. The maximum depth is 32,5m/106,6ft. There isn’t any current. The visibility is good, 30m/98ft. The depth of the site makes it suitable for deep dives. Divers can explore the wreck and see many colorful reef fish, moray eels, groupers and barracudas. Diving at this site is recommended for experienced divers.
When To Go Diving
Diving is available year-round, but the best time to visit Pronto is between June and October. The air temperature varies between 24C/75F in the summer and 19C/66F in the winter. The sea temperature varies between 17-23C/63-73F, which is pleasant for scuba diving with a 5-7mm wetsuit.
