Liveaboard diving in
Close Encounters
Close Encounters dive site is located only 2km/1mi from the shore on the north west coast of Bali island and features a long coral reef with steep slopes going down to a sandy bottom at 25-30m/82-98ft depth. The east side of the reef is of particular interest to divers, as it has beautiful coral sponges and many crevices, nooks and crannies that provide hiding places for a wide variety of reef little critters. There are only gentle currents or no currents at all on this site, which make it a good place even for inexperienced divers.
When To Go Diving
Diving this site is possible all year round as the annual water temperature stays around 28C/82F.
What to see
Besides vast shoals of typical small reef fish, divers can also see sweet lips, large jacks, snappers, trevallies and bat fish. With a bit of luck they can also spot crocodile fish, scorpion fish, frog fish and octopus.
