Great experience, phenomenal crew, decent rooms. Verified review

I just did a cruise on Calico Jack that included southern Raja Ampat. The diving was amazing. Very diverse, colourful, and the boat carries max 10 divers so groups are small. This was a major selling point for me. The dive sights selected were world class. We dove off tenders that were fast. Each site was less than two minutes from the boat. The cruise director Aleksi was very involved with all aspects of the operations from diving to meals to land excursions. He was the best cruise director I've ever seen and I've been on over 15 liveaboards. The food was great. The chef prepared tasty Indonesian dishes, soups, fish, chicken, beef, and had no issues providing meals for some on board with food allergies or restrictions. I would do this trip again in a heartbeat but I do feel obligated to say a few things that I had no issues with but other guests were mentioning. One cabin had no AC for the week. Mine was fine luckily. During hard rainstorms, some water would leak/drip into rooms. Mine was minimal and didn't wake me/get anything important wet. The marine toilets are interesting....can sometimes leave a lingering smell. The boat itself was beautiful. It is a traditional wooden boat. The owners are heavily involved and you can tell they genuinely want the guests to be happy. Jamie was on board part of the trip and hung out with us. Last but not least, the crew were fantastic. Sam was very attentive to our every need. To me, he was the star of the boat. His service is of that you find in a fancy restaurant in a major city. Little things like bringing you your morning coffee, helping with luggage, always smiling, and acting like he genuinely cared about his job. The dive guides Andy and Ferry could spot a pygmy seahorse from a mile away.....I have no idea how. They also were very good dive guides. Very professional, safe, and let us dive 60 minutes every time.
