1. Do your homework and research your dive destination: <\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Check the visa requirements.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Check your liveaboard\u2019s requirements about the number of dives logged.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– If it\u2019s been a while since you last dived and you need a refresher, make your check dive while you\u2019re in your own country, instead of doing it after you arrive at your destination.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

2. Flights and logistics: <\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Plan your flight and do not arrive on same day the safari starts. This is a common recommendation, but there are some exceptions. Usually in Egypt and in the Maldives, you should arrive on the first day of the safari.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Check your airline\u2019s regulations for scuba gear.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

3. Packing your bag: <\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Pack expensive gadgets and equipment with you in your carry-on luggage.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Equipment check list. Make sure you have all the spare parts and relevant equipment that you need. Think about the adapters, which wet suit, etc.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Do not forget your diving certification or your logbook. It is also a good idea to email yourself scanned copies of your documents so that you can access them remotely if necessary.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– If you are planning to rent equipment, make sure to arrange everything in advance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Make sure you have enough cash with you for onboard purchases, equipment rentals, and tipping the crew (including the customary tip at the end).<\/p>\r\n

4. Health: <\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Take care of your health before safari and on board. Pay attention to your ears, and don\u2019t forget to drink a lot of water.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Do not forget your personal medications, and make sure to tell the liveaboard about your meal preferences, such as any food allergies, intolerances, dietary restrictions, or other preferences (vegan, vegetarian, kosher, etc.) that you need to have accommodated while on board.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Be very serious about insurance and study all the details and what your insurance covers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

5. Safety: <\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Think about safety every minute you are on board the ship and underwater. Make sure you have all the safety gadgets and know how to use them.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

– Always listen to your guide and each briefing, especially the part about when the dive ends and you go back to the boat.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
