Basket Reef is located in Montego Bay. The site is a huge reef wall with diverse marine life. The site was named after the large basket sponges on the wall. Diving here usually involves exploring numerous crevices and caverns, or roaming around different outcroppings.
What to see
Black durgeons, parrotfish, Creole wrasses, and turtles are common residents of this site, and dolphins are occasionally seen. At this site, divers can examine a multitude of corals, sea fans, sea cucumbers, and cauliflower corals.
When To Go Diving
There are two main seasons in Montego Bay. The warm season lasts from June to October, with an average air temperature of 31C/87F. The cold season lasts from December to mid-March, with an average air temperature of 25-27C/77-80F. The water temperature is approximately 26-27C/78-80F.
