About Aquitaine

Aquitaine is the region located in the south-western part of Metropolitan France, along the Atlantic Ocean. Diving here is available for divers of all levels of experience. Dive sites are mainly located on the south, near the Spanish border (Hendaye, Biarritz). Another popular diving place in the region is Arcachon bay famous for its rich underwater life. From Arcachon, divers can also access outcoast wrecks. These sites are less known and quite deep. The Atlantic sea bed off the Aquitaine offers real diversity, with unique sights such as underwater cliffs carpeted with sea anemones, rocks with a rich mix of flora and fauna, caves and shipwrecks. The marine life here includes a variety of sea horses, big conger eels and some times european lobsters, moon fish, cuttlefish and other species. Among popular dive sites around the Aquitaine are Aroca tiquia (Caves), Grand Piquey, Hortense, La Roche-Velaine, Le Chariot, Le Mimbeau, Saint Yves and many others.
